Sometimes I make hats and they exceed my expectations, and this one is one of them. The upcycled silk scarf is brown with gold velvet which when combined with brown wool created this hood – so lush and rich in character. The big geometric shapes remind me of ancient Egyptian’s eyeliner, so placing the print over the wearer’s left eye is a nod to Cleopatra and the beauty of that ancient culture. This one is a stunner from all angles, a work of wearable art.

This hat is handmade felt. The silk velour fabric is fused with raw merino wool in a process of wet felting called nuno felting. Once the fabric/felt hood is created, it is blocked over a vintage wooden block and finished by hand. A vintage, repurposed flower is added to this hat to enhance the coquettish look. This deep cloche is comfortable and stylish, a modern version of the 1920’s flapper with upcycled fashion and modern felting techniques. While it will protect you from cold weather and precipitation, it is a one-of-a-kind fashion piece that will accompany you on a night out either dressed up or worn casually. Comfort and sensibility all combined with a most luscious fabric and gold sheen. A show-stopper in warm, inviting tones with a fabulous texture.
