For me it is a flower that quickly captures my attention. The velvet feeling of its petals, both vibrant and yet so delicate. The tall stem that looks as if it could easily snap in a sharp wind. This hat is handmade felt. The silk poppy material is fused with raw wool in a process of wet felting called nuno felting. Once the fabric/felt hood is created, it is stiffened and blocked over a vintage wooden block to shape. The brim is first wired, then an elastic inner band sewn by hand, helping with the comfort of the hat and to keeps it on your head. The flowers are cut by hand, and beads finish off the whole hat.
