Bessie love was an actress who transitioned successfully from silent to sound movies, working on an off until 1983. Expected to entertain at parties, she quickly learned how to sing and dance, and play the ukulele, and is credited with being the first woman to dance the Charleston on film.

This hat is handmade felt. The silk fabrics are fused with raw merino wool in a process of wet felting called nuno felting. Once the fabric/felt hood is created, it is blocked over a vintage wooden crown and brim block. Comfort and sensibility with an eye-catching combination of silk, this work of wearable art is great in the spring, fall and winter.
